CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS

For Courses Taught By Mrs. Hartman

BEHAVIOR

  • Remain in assigned seats unless lesson requires working in groups. Sharpening pencils and throwing away trash should be done at the beginning and end of class.

  • Be courteous to the teacher, fellow students, and classroom guests.

  • Permission must be granted to leave the room. Do not ask to use the lavatory during the presentation of new material, during discussions, or at a time when class participation is being encouraged unless it is an emergency.

  • All required material needed to function properly must be brought to class thus eliminating unnecessary locker visits.

  • No food or drinks allowed around the computer equipment. No gum chewing—for protection of equipment and preparatory for business-like behavior.

ATTENDANCE

  • Habitual lateness will not be condoned. On the fourth lateness to class a student will be assigned detention and for every lateness thereafter.

  • A one-day absence will not excuse a student from taking an announced quiz or unit test on his/her return the following day.

  • An extended absence will require the student to communicate and make arrangements for make-up work with the teacher. Missed tests are to be made up the first Period E of class. Students have 2 weeks to make up tests or a “0” will be assigned.

  • As stated by employers, an employee’s attendance and promptness are essential to acquiring and maintaining a job, not to mention promotions. This responsible attitude towards attendance is, therefore, essentially incorporated in preparatory school attendance. If students miss class they are responsible for getting the notes from a classmate. The student should also see the classroom assignment list for the work that was missed.
